Campus No. 805 is pleased to announce the newest addition to its growing roster of tenants. Rock N Roll Sushi will open its first Huntsville restaurant and bar in the Campus’s new retail center at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Lowry Street.
Founded by Birmingham brothers Ryan Hallmark and Lance Hallmark, Rock N Roll Sushi restaurants pair a love of sushi with a rock music genre. The restaurants play 60s-80s rock music, menus are served in record album covers, sushi rolls have rock star names, and the bar is shaped like a guitar.
At the heart of the brother’s success, however, is delicious food and a commitment to only use top quality ingredients. Ryan says there are no substitutes for the very best.
“Nine out of 10 people love seafood but afraid of sushi,” said Ryan. “That’s why 55 percent of our menu is 100 percent cooked rolls. We really cater to a ‘southernized’ sushi brand. If you love fried shrimp, you’ll love some of our product or you don’t pay us for it. We have best of both worlds for people who are novice sushi eaters to the expert who wants the highest grade sashimi.”
Campus No. 805 Manager Joyce Skinner said a sushi restaurant was high on the Campus list of desired dining experiences. “After visiting Ryan’s restaurant in Birmingham, we were convinced Rock N Roll Sushi would be a great fit,” said Skinner. “The food was delicious and the atmosphere lively and fun.”
The restaurant’s new Huntsville location will be Ryan’s fourth Rock N Roll Sushi in Alabama. His brother also owns four locations and established a franchise for the concept that is rapidly growing across three states.
Ryan says he has been impressed with the Huntsville market for many years, but when he visited Campus No. 805, he knew the time was right.
“The concert lawn was a big attraction and I was really impressed with the brewery concept and the activities at the Stone Center. We do a lot of benefits and fundraisers and the fact that I could rent Butler Green and host a party for the Wounded Warriors, our charity this year, is a big plus.”
Ryan says his most popular menu item is the Michael Jackson roll. It is made of shrimp tempura and cream cheese in the center, flash fried, and topped with crab meat, boiled shrimp and baked scallops, and topped with a spicy mayonnaise dill sauce.
Also known for their signature drinks, Rock N Roll Sushi’s best seller is the frozen cocktail Purple Rain, a concoction of rum, pina colada and strawberries. For beer drinkers, the restaurant will offer a selection of local craft beers and brews on tap.
The new Rock N Roll Sushi Huntsville location is expected to open in mid-April. Hours will be Sunday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Campus No. 805 is a 13-acre multi-use development located at Governor’s Drive West and Triana Boulevard. Tenants include Yellowhammer Brewery, Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza, Bubba’s Silver Spoon Catering, Stone Event Center, and S.R. Butler Green. Opening soon is Lone Goose Saloon, Straight to Ale’s brewery and bier garden, Sweet Liberty BYO Homebrew Supplies, and Ronnie Raygun’s Barcade. More tenant announcements are forthcoming.
